Registration and collection of children

Responsibility Duration: Umbrella Theatre School is responsible for children only during the booked session hours.

Admittance: Children cannot be admitted before the session start time.

Registration: Parents/Guardians must register their children at the beginning of the session.

Collection: Children must be collected from the designated pick-up point at the end of the session.

Unaccompanied Departure: If older children are to walk home alone, parents must inform the school manager.

Parent Presence: Parents/carers may wait on the premises but are not allowed into classes except during presentations and shows.

Punctuality: Arrive a few minutes early to avoid disrupting classes. Continuous lateness may result in loss of the child’s place.

Late Collection

Penalty: A penalty charge may be incurred for late collection, potentially leading to the loss of the child’s place.

Uncollected Children: If parents cannot be contacted, Umbrella Theatre School will take the child to the nearest police station or contact social services.

Emergency Contact: In emergencies, contact the school manager as soon as possible.

Attendance Notification: Inform Umbrella Theatre School if the student will be absent or needs to leave for appointments during the session.

In the Event of Illness or Accident

Sickness Policy: Children with temporary sickness (e.g., flu, diarrhea, vomiting) will not be permitted to register.

Illness/Accident: Parents will be contacted and must collect the child to seek medical advice.

Emergency Treatment: In emergencies requiring hospital treatment, an ambulance will be called. Umbrella Theatre School will act in loco parentis if parents cannot be contacted.

Behavior Management Policy: Positive and effective behavior management strategies are used.

Misbehavior: Students causing significant disruption or safety concerns may be asked to leave, with parents contacted. This is entirely up to the discretion of Umbrella Theatre School

Break and/or Lunch Time Consumption Rules: No food, drink, or gum during classes; consumption allowed only during designated break times.

Packed Lunches: Required for full-day workshops. Lunches should not need refrigeration and should be labelled.

We have a strict no nuts policy and no food sharing policy.

Payments

Reservation and Payment: Payment is required in full in advance to reserve a place.

Payment Methods: Payments can be made by cash, credit/debit card, or direct debit monthly plan.

Direct Debit Instalments: For termly classes, payments are divided into four equal instalments per term.

Payment Failures: Failed payments incur a £5 charge and may result in the loss of monthly payment rights and the child's place.

Cancellation: Inform the school manager by the last day of the current term to cancel the place and halt further payments.

Refunds Policy: Generally, no refunds are provided. In extreme situations, a maximum 50% refund may be considered at Umbrella Theatre School’s discretion.

Staff Changes Right to Change: Umbrella Theatre School reserves the right to change teaching staff at any time. In general, all staff employed by Umbrella Theatre School have a minimum 3 years teaching experience. All teachers are DBS checked.

Cancellation of Sessions

Non-liability: Umbrella Theatre School is not liable for cancellations due to reasons beyond their control (e.g., fire, flood, extreme weather). Compensation is at Umbrella Theatre School’s discretion.

Clothing Dress Code: Suitable clothing and footwear required. Umbrella Theatre School uniform or black clothing preferred for weekend schools. Comfortable clothing allowed during holiday workshops.

Toilet Training Requirement: Only toilet-trained children are accepted. If your child requires a nappy for emergencies only then parents must be happy for the nappy to stay on for the duration of the class or to be called for assistance.

Emergency: To preserve child comfort and dignity Umbrella Staff will assist children in changing wet clothes if necessary.

Personal Belongings Liability: Umbrella Theatre School is not liable for damage or loss of personal belongings. Label Umbrella Theatre School clothing.

A copy of the above will need to be signed before the first session in order to let your child enter the class.
