Who Are Umbrella Theatre School?

Umbrella Theatre School is a local theatre school dedicated to providing accessible theatre for everyone. We aim to create a welcoming and inclusive space where young people can explore the performing arts, develop new skills, and express themselves creatively. Our focus is on building confidence, creativity, and a love for performance in a supportive environment.

What classes do you offer?

We offer weekly classes in singing, dancing, and drama, giving students a well-rounded experience in musical theatre and performance. Each session is designed to be engaging and fun, while also helping students develop core performance skills across all three disciplines.

What ages can join?

We run classes for children aged 3–16, with groups split into Early Stars (ages 3–5) and classes for ages 6–16. Each group is tailored to suit the developmental stage and ability of the students, ensuring everyone feels comfortable, supported, and appropriately challenged.

When are classes held?

Classes take place each Friday during term time, following a structured schedule across the year (12 Weeks Per Term). This consistency helps students build their skills over time while becoming part of a regular, creative routine they can look forward to each week.

What do students learn in drama classes?

In drama classes, students explore character work, improvisation, storytelling, and script work for both stage and television. These activities help develop acting techniques, communication skills, and confidence, while encouraging creativity and imagination.

Singing classes focus on learning fun and engaging songs while developing important vocal skills such as rhythm, pitch, and musicality. Students also build confidence in using their voice and performing in front of others as part of a group.

What do students learn in dance classes?

Dance classes help students develop technique, coordination, strength, and overall fitness. They learn choreographed routines in a variety of styles, improving their movement skills while also building confidence and teamwork.

What are the benefits of joining?

Students gain confidence, improve communication skills, and make new friendships in a supportive and encouraging environment. They also experience the joy of working together towards performances, helping them develop teamwork, discipline, and a sense of achievement.

How much do classes cost?

Early Stars classes (ages 3–5, 1.5 hours per week) cost £160 per term. Classes for ages 6–16 (3 hours per week) cost £260 per term. These fees cover weekly professional training across all disciplines and contribute towards performance opportunities and class resources.
