Introduction
At Umbrella Theatre School, we are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all our students. Our Code of Conduct outlines the expected behaviour for students, parents, and staff to ensure a positive and harmonious atmosphere. We ask everyone involved to adhere to these guidelines to support our mission of providing quality performing arts education for children aged 3-18 years.
For Students
Respect and Kindness
1. Respect Everyone: Treat fellow students, teachers, and staff with kindness and respect. Bullying, teasing, or any form of discrimination will not be tolerated.
2. Listen and Follow Instructions: Pay attention to your teachers and follow their instructions carefully.
3. Respect Property: Take care of the school's property, including costumes, props, and equipment. Report any damages immediately.
Participation
4. Be Punctual: Arrive on time for classes and rehearsals. If you are going to be late or absent, inform your teacher in advance.
5. Be Prepared: Come to class ready to participate, with the necessary materials and attire.
6. Stay Engaged: Participate actively in all activities and listen attentively to others.
Safety and Well-being
7. Stay Safe: Follow all safety guidelines and instructions. Do not run or engage in rough play in the studio or theatre.
8. Healthy Habits: Maintain personal hygiene and dress appropriately for classes and performances.
For Parents and Guardians
1. Support and Encourage: Encourage your child’s participation and celebrate their achievements without placing undue pressure on them.
2. Communicate Respectfully: Communicate respectfully with teachers, staff, and other parents. Address any concerns or issues directly with the school administration.
3. Be Punctual: Ensure your child arrives on time for classes and is picked up promptly at the end of sessions.
4. Attendance: Inform the school in advance if your child will be absent or late.
5. Stay Informed: Keep up to date with school communications, including schedules, events, and important announcements.
For Staff
1. Professionalism: Conduct yourselves with professionalism at all times. Be punctual, prepared, and dressed appropriately for your role.
2. Respect and Inclusion: Foster an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and respected.
3. Safety First: Prioritize the safety and well-being of all students. Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
4. Effective Communication: Communicate clearly and respectfully with students, parents, and colleagues. Address any concerns promptly and professionally.

General Policies
1. No Bullying: Umbrella Theatre School has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying. Any incidents should be reported immediately to a teacher or administrator.
2. No Discrimination: Discrimination based on race, gender, religion, disability, or any other characteristic is strictly prohibited.
3. Privacy: Respect the privacy of others. Do not share personal information without permission.
4. Electronics: Mobile phones and other electronic devices should be turned off or set to silent during classes and rehearsals unless otherwise instructed by the teacher.
